We had the opportunity to work together with a claims adjusting company of Zurich Insurance on automating insurance claims management.

Buildings Insurance
Yololab developed a video capable computer vision model for one swiss insurer for determining buildings characteristics. The insurer uses the model on drone video and we are further exploring the possibilities of image data collection from Google Earth, Aerial Map and StreetView. Insurance companies are exploring the applicability of AI Computer Vision in various use cases, including risk prevention.

Invoice Processing
APIs for automated invoice processing from the main cloud providers work in general well, but the quality of the output still differs often. We have built a solution for merging outputs from individual cloud providers into one reliable result. A YOLO run is a term used in machine learning and AI research to describe the pivotal moment when, after extensive small-scale experimentation and optimization, a team decides to commit all available resources (such as GPUs) to train a model at full scale. Up to this point, researchers may have been tweaking model architectures, training parameters, and other variables on a smaller setup—using a few or tens of GPUs to find what works best. Once the team feels confident enough, they stop experimenting and launch a large-scale training run with the chosen configuration. This is called a YOLO run because it involves a leap of faith. Some things that work at small scale may not work at large scale, and vice versa, so there is always some risk involved. The decision to trigger a YOLO run often relies on a mix of methodical analysis and researcher intuition. YOLO runs can be used in both pre-training and fine-tuning stages. Since fine-tuning typically requires fewer resources, organizations may be more willing to invest in YOLO runs at this stage.
